KCPDC - Teaching and Learning in the Wild West: The Brave New World of Education In-Person / Online
This Special Topics session is presented by Tom Grady
"O brave new world, that hath such people in it!" This line from William Shakespeare’s The Tempest captures the awe and wonder we feel when encountering transformative change. November 30, 2022—the launch date of ChatGPT—marked a pivotal moment for education as generative AI entered classrooms worldwide. Educators have responded with excitement about its potential to personalize learning and streamline tasks but also with concern about its implications for academic integrity, creativity, and critical thinking. This session will explore how artificial intelligence is transforming teaching practices and learning and how educators can prepare students for the current and future workforce. Together, we will navigate this brave new world thoughtfully, embracing innovation while preserving the values at the heart of education.
