The Great American Eclipse In-Person

The 2017 Great American Eclipse will pass through the Kansas City area on August 21st, the first day of classes at JCCC.  Professors of Astronomy Bill Koch and Doug Patterson present the history of eclipses in the region, why eclipses occur, and what people can expect to see during this year’s eclipse.  They will also offer advice on how to prepare for the day of the eclipse, where best to see Totality, and what activities will be happening to celebrate the eclipse on the JCCC campus.  Professors Koch and Patterson will also have solar filter glasses to hand out to attendees and will offer additional tips on how to view this historic astronomical event.
