ALICE I In-Person

Come and refresh the response options you have available to you in a violent intruder situation. ALICE is an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. Learn about JCCC's adopted response strategy. Be prepared, proactive, and protected. "Armed Intruder" is the term used to describe a person who appears to be actively engaged in attempting to harm people in a populated area; in most cases, armed intruders use firearm(s) and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims, but as of lately other weapons are also being used (machetes, knives, etc.). These situations are dynamic and evolve rapidly, demanding immediate deployment of law enforcement resources to stop the intruder and mitigate harm to innocent victims. Past experience shows us that these situations are usually over very quickly, and you need to be prepared to protect yourself before law enforcement can get there. This training will provide guidance to members of the college community who may be caught in an armed intruder/active shooter situation, and describes what to expect from responding police officers.  It will also provide information to aid you in deciding which course of action might be the best option depending on your situation. These strategies should be used to help form a plan for survival.
